Pastor Ray (as he is often called) is the Senior Pastor of The Carpenter's House Christian Church. He is a devout servant of God and a faithful pastor. Pastor Ray was the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Fayette in Fayette, Al for 18 years. He felt led by God to begin a new Ministry called The Carpenter's House in October of 2001. He loves people and ministering the Word of God. He knows he has been called to the highest office of service, which is to serve God and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Coats graduated from Marengo County Training School (A. L. Johnson High School) in 1970. This is same school where his mother (Louvenia Abernathy Coats) was a teacher.
